Mortimer's Story!

Mortimer's Story!

i decided to rescue a doxie while i was in college, so i had to wait almost 6 months until i could provide a proper home for a doxie. when it was time my rescue contact, barbara, found me a beautiful black doxie named maria (about 3 years old). she was an owner turn in because she had "seperation anxiety." i lived in new york state at the time and maria was in florida, so we had the doxie airforce , benny to be exact, fly her to me right after graduation. she looked so scared in the carrier bag she was in, but i knew i loved her right then and there. i changed her name to mortimer. she is the greatest!! so playful and full of life!! she always looked so sad when i went to work, so i decided she needed a buddy. i moved to indiana (she was very good in the 10 hour car drive, too!) , and got her a friend. his name was taz (about 1 year old). he was taken from a puppy mill. poor little guy. i changed his name to chester. he's a mama's boy. always on my lap or cuddling. he used to be afriad of lots of things, but he's doing great now. not too afraid anymore. if he get's scared, he comes to me or morty! the day chester came home was funny. he took one step out of the carrier and mortimer punched him in the nose. he looked at mt like, "What is this?" they get along great now. i love my children and highly reccomend rescue to anyone!!
