2010
Well, today is the first day of a new year. THIS is going to be the year for myself and the senior dachshunds in my care! I can just feel it. Despite all the setbacks I've had, this will be the year that my new home/sanctuary are finally built. After 10 years of hoping and planning, I can practically taste it!
No, it's not going to be anything at all like I described in my "The Webmasters Dream" page. That dream died quietly some time ago. The support was never there and it was too ambitious a project to be able to complete on my own. I've settled on a small home with room for myself and the dogs, with a large lot for them to romp and play and just snooze in the sun. I've discovered that, despite all that I want for them, they won't care if they get none of it, so long as they know they are loved. And they are! Very much so.
To those of you who have supported either myself or one of the very worthy groups on my "Dollars for Dachshunds" page, THANK YOU! Your help to all of us in rescue has made it possible to find new homes for many, many homeless dachshunds. Your help has made it possible to provide medical care for many dachshunds whose owners either couldn't, or wouldn't, provide for their needs. And, your help has made it possible for all of us to provide a comfortable environment for those who would not otherwise have anyone to care for them as they prepared to leave for The Rainbow Bridge.
All of you have my utmost respect and gratitude, regardless of which rescue you chose to support.
To those of you who were only able to offer moral support: THANK YOU! So many times during the last couple of years, the only thing that stopped me from saying "the heck with it all", was the receipt of an email thanking me for continuing this website and doing my best to increase awareness of the problem of homeless dachshunds. Sometimes, just hearing that our efforts are appreciated, is all that a rescuer needs to continue onwards. That has certainly been the case for me.
I wish all of you a Happy New Year.
Benny
