Moving Ahead

Well, at long last, I have new information on my dream of a dachshund sanctuary. Last Monday (March 8th), I picked up the final drawings from the architect. Last Friday (March 12th), my construction manager sent out requests for proposals from various builders. After over 10 years of dreaming, I hope to be in my new home and dachshund sanctuary by years end.

As with anything else of this magnitude, it's going slow. But, the architect assures me that the drawings he's provided will allow for all the necessary permits to be issued with no problems and the one builder who's responded to my R.F.P. seems to agree. I'm to meet with them (again) next Monday (March 22nd) to get their bid on the project. With luck, the other builders to whom I sent solicitations will respond soon, so that I can select one and start talking with lenders.

No pics or renderings of what the home is going to look like (my architect didn't offer such a service), but the home is intended to be 3 interlocking "pods"... an octagonal main home, with an interlocked octagon "dog/laundry" room and a standard 4 sided garage. If I can, I'll see about getting a screen cap of the .pdf for the basic floor plan and uploading it later.

Wish me luck, gang!
