Recommended Dachshund Rescue Organizations

At one time, this page was meant to let people know how they could support Dachshund Rescue Web Page in their work.

With the dissolution of the not-for-profit organization that was supporting my work, I had hoped to accomplish more than I could when I had the burden of regulatory compliance distracting me from the animals needs.

Sadly, the State of Florida has said that even mentioning that I was willing to accept a
on any web page that might be accessed by a Florida resident, means I am "soliciting" those residents and therefore I am required to register under the Florida "Solicitation of Contributions Act".

Whether or not I agree with them is unimportant. They say that this is the law and rather than risk being out of compliance with the law, I have removed all references to donating to the Dachshund Rescue Web Page from this website. I am, however, permitted to accept "personal tips" (or "personal gifts"), hence the link to the websites "tip jar" on the left, there. (Keep in mind, the not-for-profit was dissolved. "Personal tips" made through the "tip jar" are not tax deductible.)

The groups below are all worthy of your support and I strongly encourage you to donate to, or adopt from, one of them. Please be aware that not all rescues will qualify for a tax deduction, so if that's your only reason for donating, do your research carefully.

Dachshund Rescue of Houston (TX)

We do not own or operate an animal shelter. All our dogs are in foster care all over the city of Houston. It is the policy of Dachshund Rescue of Houston to focus primarily on rescuing dachshunds who would otherwise be euthanized at shelters. As a result, the chances of DRoH taking an owner-surrendered pet are not good because we just do not have the room. But, we do have many wonderful animals in need of a loving home and we would welcome the opportunity to share their information with you. [more]
