Soldiering onwards
Thanks to all of you who have written to support the decision to dissolve the Dachshund Rescue Web Page as a corporation. I'm optimistic that without the burdens of regulatory compliance, I'll actually be able to accomplish more than I could with those distractions.
Don't get me wrong. I understand (and agree) with the need for various regulatory bodies to protect the public from persons who would attempt to misuse the system for their personal gain. It seems reasonable to me that it should be difficult for anyone to do so, even though it puts an additional burden on those of us who are simply trying to have additional help for whatever mission we have undertaken. Unfortunately, those burdens are also severe enough that there will be "collateral damage" and the organization just happened to be one of those that was damaged beyond the ability to continue onwards under those burdens.
I've spent the last two weeks removing all references to our (former) status as a not-for-profit agency from this website. I'm sure I've probably missed something, so if you should run across a page that still refers to DRWP as a tax exempt organization, please let me know. The "Contact" link over there in the left sidebar will address an email to me personally.
I've also been doing what has probably been the most difficult part of this whole process: Writing letters to those who have supported the organization and making 100 percent certain that they are aware of the change in status. What is making this so difficult is my personal feeling that, somehow, I've let all these people down. They supported the organization based in large part in their faith in myself and my mission and I feel as though I've betrayed them.

Don't ever for one minute
Don't ever for one minute think that you have let anyone down! Your ultimate mission has not changed - you are still here to help rescue doxies. And that is what counts - that doxies are being saved. Keep up the good work - I know how incredibly dedicated you are to this cause.

I am sorry to read of your decision to give up your non-profit status, but understand the reasoning behind your decision and respect it. You have been very instrumental to the Disabled Dachshund Society and we can't thank you enough for all that you have done for us.

Your website is a unique
Your website is a unique resource in dachshund rescue, and I'm sure has avoided countless dogs needing to go into rescue groups. I am constantly referring people to it, in the hopes that they can re-home their dachshunds themselves, rather than putting the dog through yet another transition into foster, then adoption. We at DREAM are very grateful for all that you do, and hope that we can provide some support to you as well.
