Lakota is a very sweet boy and full of life and energy. He loves to go for walks, rides in the car and loves to swim and especially help you catch fish! This is one of his favorite things to do. Lakota has been living in the country with many other Dachshunds and loves to have room to run and play in a safe and fenced in area. We feel Lakota has the intelligence and athletic ability to be a wonderful agility dog. He will come with his AKC papers and could even compete if his new family wanted to give it a try. He is good with other dogs and children and loves men and women equally. Please note: Lakota has a high prey drive and DOES NOT like cats and will attempt to kill them if given the chance. With his humans he is gentle and submissive and loves to be the center of attention. He will lay in your arms like a baby and eat up pets and tummy rubs for hours. Lokota must have a Doxie buddy to bond and play with but one who is not too dominant as Lakota likes to be the top dog. We feel he would do best with a female or very submissive male companion. If Lakota feels as though he must compete with another male he will mark his territory inside and out which can be difficult to live with. This has nothing to do with potty training as he is totally potty trained and uses a doggy door. We have worked with Lakota for over a year on his marking issues but this behavior has and will continue as long as he is here due to the many new Doxies we bring into rescue all the time. Lakota has let us know he is unhappy with the constant pack order changes. He needs a home with a regular routine so he will not feel the need to claim what is his all the time. Lakota is a really wonderful Doxie boy and in the right home he will be a never ending joy. For more information and more pictures of Lakota please contact us or go to our website.
