Daddy was one of 4 doxies rescued from a owner who claimed she was moving and could not take the dogs.... THANK GOD!!! It was clear we had to take the dogs right then! We could smell the 4 dogs from the front yard. The grass was waist high. The dogs were infested with fleas and seed ticks to a level I did not think possible. There was no food or water in sight. Both males (5 and 8) had never been neutered. They were extremely agressive. I was bitten 5 times before the day was over. All four dogs had to stay the night in the large kennel in the garage until we were sure our own doxies would be safe. 2 dips and 3 baths later, they were ready to see the vet. They all had various surgeries the following day.
Daddy was neutered and had "Cherry eye" surgically removed from both eyes. He is still in treatment for poor tear production on one eye. The mucus had to be wiped from the eye 3 times a day and an ointment applied. His eye condition is under control except for the occasional flare up on humid days. He has gained 3 lbs. (that's a lot for a mini-doxie) His energy level is moderate and he is looking for a family of the same. He is not fond of small children but tolerates short exposure to them. He prefers to be the only dog but enjoys chase and play with our doxies. Daddy Bear is ready for adoption today. Call for a meet and greet!!! Daddy Bear is only 8 but the hard life he has led warrants listing him as a senior. He is pre-maturally grey but has no physical limitations. Please know that we lose money out of our own pockets on every foster we take in (15 to date)due to their various medicval needs and feed.
