Sadie, Coco and Logan

Sadie, Coco and Logan
I didnt adopt my "kids" from you, but they were rescued from a local shelter. I have had doxies all my life..even before I was born..after I was born, he was very protective of me. I had a longhaired standard when I was young. Someone didnt love him as much as me, they poisoned him. My mother wouldnt let me get another dog. So the first thing I did when I moved out was get a dog. It was a rescue, though not a doxie. I got one about 5 years later from a breeder. Max lived to 16 years old. About a 2 years after that I got Sadie, I recently had to put her down, she was 13. A year after that we got Buck, he lived till 10, he had a heart problem.
Shortly after Max died, I started looking for a "friend" for Sadie, she seemed kinda lost without Max. They had been together all of Sadies life. I searched your site and many other sites to look for a rescue doxie. I stumbled on petfinder.com and looked in my state and the surrounding ones, when I came upon the shelter in Iowa, they had 8 doxies, they were given up because of a divorce. The shelter believed it was a puppy mill.
Well I came home with 2, Logan and Coco (wished I could have taken all of them), both under a year, and both very afraid of humans, must of them were. Neither had fur on their tails or backsides, probably from being confined. There was a male who was very protective of my daughter, we were afraid he would harm Sadie, there was also an older looking female that was pregnant, I seriously thought of taking her, but Sadie doesnt always do well with other females. Logan does ok with new people, Coco is still terrified of new people, however if they happen to be the only one there, and they have a blanket, he will curl up under the blanket. They sleep in bed with me, under the covers of course, and always snuggle on the couch with me, usually under the blanket if its there!!!
These 2 are fixed, my other ones never were, but they were never allowed to have any pups. If the city didnt have an ordinace on the number of dogs you could have...Id definitely have one or two more!!! They're small!!! and so full of love..To anyone one thinking of getting a doxie...GET TWO!! You wont regret your decision!!
